Craftsman Bungalow
Lining the streets of cities across the country are charming homes with intricate wooden details, and porches that call us back to simpler times. These are Craftsman houses – American creations that started springing up around 1905 in Southern California.

Originally built by the Greene brothers (see their landmark Gamble House here), these houses rose in popularity throughout the country during the beginning of the 20th century. They are unique for their fusion of wooden Asian details with English Arts and Crafts spirit. They became so popular, that entire kits could be ordered and delivered to building sites to construct the house whole!
And these doors…swoon.
