Craftsmen come in every form. For Matt Baldwin, co-founder and chief visionary of Baldwin Denim, his craft started at FIDM Los Angeles where he earned a degree in Apparel Manufacturing. His enthusiasm for fashion and entrepreneurial spirit led him and his wife to open a specialty clothing boutique in Kansas City, a community that the brand is deeply rooted in.
A pair of Baldwins aren’t just another pair of jeans. They have been well thought out, designed, and created with the best American denim. Matt says he saw the lack of craftsmanship in men’s jeans on the market, leading him to create three different pairs of jeans. “On our first day, we sold 23 pairs! Our growth has been organic yet intentional, allowing customers to help shape our trajectory with certain products”, he says.
The company grew to include collections of pants, sweaters, jackets, and other pieces. Baldwin has also received quite a bit of publicity from celebrities such as Jay-Z, who have their very own pairs of Baldwin pants. GQ has even named Baldwin as the Best Menswear Designer. The company now has 4 Kansas City locations and plans to expand to other cities such as New York.
There is no lack of vision when it comes to Matt Baldwin’s plans for the future of the company. They will be changing fashion for many years with their high quality craftsmanship and unique brand dedicated to quality and style.
